Position Title: SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR

About Us:
The Alberta Helpers provides free online tutoring for elementary, junior high, and high school students throughout Alberta. We are a youth-run organization that runs in partnership with YouthInspirED Foundation and YWCA Lethbridge. We’re looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people to help expand our mission. If you like meeting new people, staying organized, and contributing to something meaningful, this role could be perfect for you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage our Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts
  • Create simple, engaging posts—graphics, short videos, announcements, or fun updates
  • Keep our brand voice friendly, positive, and consistent
  • Interact with followers by responding to comments and messages
  • Help our online community feel welcomed, informed, and connected

What We’re Looking For:

  • Interest in social media, content creation, or digital storytelling
  • Basic understanding of major platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Creativity and willingness to experiment with new ideas
  • Clear communication skills
  • Comfort working independently with a flexible, low-pressure weekly workload
  • Passion for education and community involvement

No formal experience needed, just enthusiasm and a desire to learn.

Position Type: Virtual
This is a volunteer position with an expected commitment of 2-3 hours per week. All work is conducted remotely, offering flexibility to work from home.

About YouthInspirED Foundation - Alberta (The Alberta Helpers)

YouthInspirED Foundation (YIED) is a youth-led organization entirely managed by individuals under the age of 30. It was established with the mission of "Empowering youth to become successful leaders through participation in, and management of, their own tutoring programs." YIED engages in two primary activities: First, we offer free, virtual, tutoring programs to youth across Canada. Currently, we have chapters in Nova Scotia, Toronto, Alberta, and Vancouver. Second, we empower young people by providing the necessary funding, resources, and mentorship to lead and manage these tutoring initiatives.
