Hours: 40 hours per week (Full-Time)

The Opportunity
Summerland Baptist Church is seeking a Co-Lead Pastor (Teaching & Vision) to help lead the church into its next season of spiritual growth and community impact. Working in partnership with the Co-Lead Pastor (Discipleship) and accountable to the Leadership Board, this individual will provide shared spiritual leadership, helping to advance the church’s mission and vision through biblical teaching, visionary leadership, and the development of healthy ministry leaders and teams. This role is for a leader with a passion for teaching Scripture, casting vision, developing leaders, and fostering a healthy church
culture.
Core Calling of This Role
The Co-Lead Pastor (Teaching & Vision) will:
○ Champion the vision and spiritual direction of the church
○ Lead the teaching and preaching ministry with clarity and conviction
○ Develop leaders and build a strong discipleship culture
○ Strengthen church-wide alignment across ministries and staff
○ Partner with the Leadership Board in strategic and spiritual leadership
○ Help cultivate a healthy, growing, Christ-centred church culture
CO-LEAD PASTOR Key Responsibilities and Profile
Teaching & Vision Leadership
○ Provide primary weekend preaching leadership (approximately 60–70%)
○ Curate guest speakers for remaining weekends
○ Strengthen the church’s overall teaching culture across ministries
○ Develop emerging preachers and teachers
○ Oversee Sunday gathering experience, including hospitality and connection pathways
○ Champion small groups as a core discipleship environment
Leadership & Staff Development
○ Lead staff development rhythms in partnership with the Leadership Board
○ Oversee annual review and growth processes for staff and pastors
○ Build leadership pipelines for volunteers and emerging leaders
○ Foster a healthy, collaborative staff culture
Pastoral Oversight
○ Provide leadership for congregational care in collaboration with care and deacon teams
○ Support key pastoral moments including funerals, visitation, and counselling care structures
Governance & Strategic Leadership
○ Partner with the Leadership Board in shaping vision, values, and strategic direction
○ Contribute to organizational clarity, structure, and policy development as needed
○ Collaborate with Treasurer on budget planning and stewardship priorities
○ Work with Board Chair on agenda formation and leadership alignment
○ Invest in leadership development of board and ministry leaders
External Engagement & Growth
○ Maintain strong engagement with CBWC and broader ministry networks
○ Commit to ongoing theological, leadership, and personal development

○ Demonstrated ability to develop leaders and build healthy teams
○ Spiritually mature, emotionally healthy, and grounded in humility
○ Strong vision-casting ability that creates alignment and momentum
○ Passion for discipleship pathways, especially through small groups
○ Collaborative leadership style with a high trust posture
Qualifications
○ Personal faith in Jesus Christ, clear calling to pastoral ministry, and alignment with CBWC doctrinal convictions.
○ Minimum 10 years of pastoral leadership experience (300+ congregation) preferred
○ Demonstrated leadership development experience
○ Healthy relational and family life (where applicable)
○ Graduate theological degree from an accredited seminary preferred
Compensation
Commensurate with experience and aligned with CBWC compensation guidelines (2026).
