Overview
The Youth Director position provides ministry to the students (Grade 7-12) and their families of Stony Plain Alliance Church. This includes leadership, oversight and responsibility for the overall health of the SPACYOUTH volunteer team.
ROLE SPECIFICS
Wednesday Nights (5:30-9:30PM)
- Physical setup for events (materials, resources, and physical space, etc.)
- Pre-event meeting for leaders.
- Primary teaching responsibility and point person for volunteer team.
- Post-event cleanup and debrief.
- Care and empowerment of SPACYOUTH leaders to operate in their giftings.
Sunday Mornings (9:30AM-2:30PM)
- Student and leader engagement (meetings, touchpoints, conversations, etc.)
- Monthly SPACYOUTH leader meeting post-service.
- Serve monthly with the Grade 5/6 in AdventureKids.
- Occasional involvement in Sunday gathering.
- Assist in Plan-to-Protect training events.
Tuesday Morning Meetings (9AM-12PM)
- All staff prayer (1h)
- Ministry Team meeting (2h)
Preparation And Planning (variable)
- Schedule, follow-up and communicate with volunteer team.
- Prepare and plan Wednesday nights as per schedule (teaching, role assignments, purchase of supplies for activities and café, etc.)
- Develop yearly schedule for ministry.
- Responsible for setting and adjusting schedules for events.
- Coordinate and execute communications with youth and parents.
- Recruit, equip, and care for SPACYOUTH volunteers.
- Develop and steward an annual SPACYOUTH ministry budget.
Pastoral Care (variable)
- Prayer and care of students and families as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of an undergraduate ministry or theology degree an asset (but not required).
- Ability to articulate a journey of surrender to Jesus and His Way.
- Evidence of a Spirit-filled life.
- Creativity and demonstrated leadership in developing age-appropriate programming.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with various teams.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
