Support Coach Job Ad

We are seeking an engaging person to support our 30-year-old family member with an intellectual disability. This flexible (full-time or part-time) role focuses on providing companionship and support that helps create a positive living environment in his home and in the community. The ideal candidate will be physically active, willing to play video games together, share a love of dogs and be results-driven in seeking out opportunities for community engagement, contribution and employment for our family member.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Support our family member to build a positive living environment in his own home
Support our family member with daily living tasks (i.e., maintaining his own space, cooking, cleaning, yard care.. etc.)
Support our family member with the use of public transportation
Gradually assist our family member to build connections in community based  interests and explore opportunities for employment
The ideal candidate will have:

 

Ability to be physically active (i.e., walking, biking, being outdoors)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
A reliable vehicle and Class 5 driver’s license, willingness to transport our family member
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, overnights and weekends
Completion of First Aid and CPR certification, and a Police Information Check with a vulnerable sector check
