Who We Are:
Paisley Missionary Church is affiliated with the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada.
We are located in the picturesque village of Paisley in the heart of Bruce County, part of the municipality
of Arran-Elderslie which has a population of approximately 7,000 people. Paisley is situated at the
confluence of the Teeswater and Saugeen Rivers, is surrounded by rolling hills and farms and is just a
short drive from the beautiful beaches of Lake Huron.
We are a Christ-centered church with a multi-generational congregation. We are a fellowship of believers,
seeking to know God; committed to Bible-based teaching and worship. Our focus as a church family
remains on the importance of God’s Word and sharing God’s love with those around us. We have a rich
heritage of seeking to care for people both here and abroad.
Our congregation is modest in size, conservative and traditional in our beliefs and practices. We are
prayerfully seeking our new Lead Pastor. We seek a Lead Pastor who has a love for preaching and
teaching God’s Word, who has leadership and shepherding experience, and a vision and heart to nurture,
develop and grow the ministries and initiatives at PMC

Position Summary
The task of the Lead Pastor is to glorify God in the exercise of leadership by modelling Christian
servanthood, devoting himself to the tasks of prayer and the ministry of the Word. His role is to equip,
empower, and mobilize God’s people in spiritual growth and works of service.

Accountability
This is a full-time position directly accountable to the Church Council which is comprised of the Elders
Board and the Deacons Board.

Qualifications
The Lead Pastor must be a person of proven godly character, following the qualifications for Elder listed
in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
Have a deep joy for studying, preaching and teaching God’s Word (Jeremiah 15:16)
Hold a Master’s of Divinity (or equivalent combination of education and experience). The very minimum
education would be a Bachelors in Theology from an accredited institution.
It is preferred, but not mandatory, that they are licensed with the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada.
They must agree with Paisley Missionary Church’s statement of faith.
The only qualification based on abilities the individual must possess is the ability to teach.
Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Leadership Profile
Leadership: Provide visionary and strategic leadership, bringing focus to key priorities and goals that
support the vision.
Preaching & Teaching: Discern and deliver biblical truth in a culturally-relevant way that points people
to a vibrant walk with Christ. Develop a healthy teaching diet of Scripture and doctrine, in coordination with
the Elders Board, and bear the primary pulpit ministry.
Worship & Prayer: Provide qualitative opportunities for public worship and prayer within the church,
delegating responsibilities to and providing direction to able volunteers.
Discipleship: Ensure that the Congregation is trained in how to be disciple-makers. Provide general
oversight to all ministries related to spiritual growth.
Evangelism: Help the Ministry Leaders and Congregation develop into an outward-focused community
which effectively reaches those within their spheres of influence with the gospel.
Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with the congregation, the Paisley community and
the denomination. Provide pastoral care for members of the congregation, including visiting the sick.
Counselling those in need and offering support during times of crisis. Assist in resolving conflict and
building unity within the church family. Perform baptisms, conduct funerals, weddings and other
congregational events where a Pastor is needed.

Areas of Responsibility
The Pastor will have a balanced Bible-based preaching / teaching ministry.
The Pastor will provide visionary leadership and leadership development.
The Pastor will provide pastoral care and regular visitation.
The Pastor will disciple and equip others to fulfill their God-given ministries in the church and in the
world.
The Pastor will fulfill administrative responsibilities as agreed upon with the Leadership Team.
The Pastor will continue self-development to remain current and effective in ministry.

Organizational Relationships
The Pastor will be an ex-officio member of the various church boards and committees, supporting and
encouraging church leaders while providing spiritual counsel and insights.
The Pastor will develop strong relationships with the congregation, the Paisley community, and the
denomination. When necessary, assist in resolving conflict and building unity within the church family
The Pastor will be a liaison, providing updates and be accountable to the Elders Board regarding
spiritual matters and to the Deacons Board regarding temporal matters.
The Pastor will collaborate with the Elders to discern and address the spiritual needs of the
congregation.
The Pastor will identify, develop and deploy existing and emerging leaders; serve on the Nominating
committee in preparing members and coordinating their ministries.
