Overview
Summary: The Community Service Worker Summer Intern will support community engagement efforts by helping plan, coordinate, and execute service programs, events, and local partnerships. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping others, loving the marginalized, building relationships, and making a tangible impact in our community.
Position Details:
Start Date: May 2026 (or later)
Projected Duration: 8-10 weeks
Schedule: 30-35 hours per week
Compensation: Minimum wage

Working Relationships: Reports to the Associate Pastor of Engagement and Outreach.

Key Areas of Responsibilities
The Community Service Worker will perform the following tasks:
• Provide a safe and welcoming environment for food bank clients
• Build relationships with immigrants and low-income families throughout the week
• Create materials in English, Farsi, Arabic, and other languages
• Facilitate beginner English learning conversation classes for New Canadians
• Create a judgment-free space for English learners to practice listening and talking
• Teach about Canadian culture, such as holidays and traditions
• Assist in running evening events/services focused on reaching Next Gen
• Brainstorm and test out creative ways to engage and build relationships with young
people
• Other duties as required
Mount Currie Missions Trip
• Prepare an outdoor campsite for an outreach program for Indigenous youth
• Build relationships with outreach team and local partners
• Run errands to prepare for any service initiatives

Qualifications and/or Skills Required
• Must be ages 15-30 (Canada Summer Jobs Requirement)
• Must be eligible to work in Canada according to BC legislation and regulations
• Must agree with PCC’s Statement of Faith (“What We Believe” as listed on the website)
