Children’s Ministries Pastor

(40 Hours per week)

 

FAC Calgary is a multi-campus, multi-cultural, multi-lingual, and multi-generational church composed of thousands of people in south Calgary. With deep historical roots of over 80 years, FAC is a trusted and established presence in our city. We currently have six campuses – Deerfoot, Español, Southwest, Ogden, Online, Portuguese – each with its own unique expression of worship.

 

The Children’s Ministries Pastor will oversee the Children’s Ministries team, providing spiritual, strategic, and organizational leadership for FAC Calgary’s Children’s Ministry. This role leads and develops the Children’s Ministries staff team, which currently serves over 350 children each weekend and is supported by 300 volunteers.

 

This position is a Global Support Role and, as such, provides leadership, support, resources, and ministry direction to FAC campuses within its scope. The Children’s Ministries Pastor works collaboratively with campus and ministry leaders to ensure alignment with FAC’s mission and values while supporting appropriate contextual expressions of Children’s Ministry.

 

Role Specifics

·       Provide overall spiritual, strategic, and organizational leadership to the Children’s Ministries, ensuring alignment with FAC’s mission, values, and priorities.

·       Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate the Children’s Ministries staff team, fostering a healthy, collaborative team culture through clear direction, feedback, accountability, and support.

·       Develop and implement the vision, strategy, annual goals, priorities, and budget for Children’s Ministries, evaluating ministry effectiveness and health and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.

·       Develop effective ministry structures and systems that support sustainable Children’s Ministry across FAC, including volunteer leadership, recruitment, training, development, and retention.

·       Provide leadership for the spiritual formation of children by ensuring ministry environments, curriculum, programs, and experiences are biblically grounded, age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with FAC’s priorities, while equipping parents and caregivers to disciple their children.

·       Oversee weekend Children’s Ministry operations, ensuring safe, welcoming, appropriately staffed, and well-led environments, with effective volunteer leadership, classroom ratios, and communication with families.

·       Provide oversight of volunteer screening, training, policies, procedures, and safeguarding practices, ensuring compliance with FAC requirements and appropriate escalation of concerns.

·       Partner with the Southwest Campus Children’s Ministries Director and other campus and ministry leaders to provide support, resources, collaboration, and strategic alignment, while providing appropriate pastoral care to staff, volunteers, children, and families.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in theology, children’s ministry, education, or a related field preferred.

·       Minimum 5 years of experience in Children’s Ministry or a comparable ministry environment, including the development of volunteer leaders and teams.

·       Demonstrated experience in leading, coaching, developing, and providing healthy accountability to staff and/or significant volunteer teams.

·       Demonstrated strategic and organizational leadership skills, including the ability to develop ministry plans, establish priorities, and lead effective implementation.

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, campuses, and diverse ministry contexts.

·       Be licensed or approved for licensing with the Alliance Canada; or willing to complete the licensing process within the first year of employment.

·       Be legally entitled to work in Canada.

·       The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep and growing relationship with Jesus, a genuine love for people, a commitment to developing others, and a passion for supporting families in the discipleship of their children.
