Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Based at: Camp Hope
Status: Seasonal 2-month position, June 22nd- August 21st, 2026.
Compensation: $15/hr, 40 hour weeks

Job Summary:
As Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible to assist the Head Cook with meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and serving campers in the main kitchen as well as at various cooking sites throughout the camp. You will also provide support in other areas as needed by the Head Cook to ensure smooth operation and a positive camp experience.
Camp Hope is located on 100 acres of forested land 20 minutes west of Calgary along the Elbow River. We offer 5-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-17. Activities include archery, obstacle courses, bike trails, survival guides, wide games, and more!
Job Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation & Cooking Support
- Assist the Head Cook with preparing and cooking meals for campers and staff at the main café and other cooking sites.
- Help maintain a positive kitchen environment with the other kitchen staff.
- Help with food prep tasks such as chopping, portioning, and organizing ingredients before and during mealtimes.
Serving & Kitchen Clean-Up
- Serve food efficiently and maintain cleanliness in all kitchen and dining areas, following food safety standards.
- Putting food away ensuring everything is sealed and dated correctly.
- Managing dish duties.
General Kitchen Operations
- Support the Head Cook with daily tasks as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations and a positive dining experience.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies and inventory throughout the summer.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Previous camp kitchen experience is an asset
- Driver’s License is an asset
Skills & Competencies:
- Works well with others in a team environment.
- Ability to work long hours on your feet.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Punctuality.
- Participate in camp activities, including chapel, when time allows.
- Love for underprivileged kids.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to work the full 4 months (May to August), as well as have a more flexible schedule in the summer months with camp beginning on Sundays.
- Must have a passion in working with youth and children.

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
- Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
- A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
