Overview

Our teachers report to our Principal, in compliance with CQS policies, Teacher Qualification Standards, and The Education Act.  Our teachers demonstrate the following competencies:

·         Accommodate students with diverse learning needs and abilities.

·         Coordinate Individual Program Plans (IPPs) in collaboration with our multidisciplinary therapy team and classroom instructional assistants.

·         Demonstrate a high degree of professional competence in planning, teaching, and assessing learning.

·         Collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.

·         Be committed to ongoing professional development.

·         Participate as an effective team member in the implementation of the school’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.

·         Promote a safe and caring learning environment for students.

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate – Interim or Permanent

·         Bachelor of Education Degree or experience and equivalent recognized by Alberta Education

·         Experience in supporting students with severe disabilities is considered an asset

·         Experience with promoting educational success for students with moderate to severe disabilities;

·         Lead by example;

·         High level of written and verbal communication skills;

·         Excellent interpersonal skills;

·         High levels of integrity, ethics, and professionalism;

·         The ability to resolve and manage conflict;

·         Skills to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and sectors;

·         Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential material.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
