Summer Fund Development & Communications Assistant

Calgary Quest Children’s Society is seeking a creative and motivated individual (aged 17 – 30) to join our team this summer as a Communications & Fund Development Assistant. Funding for this is partially provided by the Government of Canada Youth Employment and Skills Strategy.
This position is an opportunity to build meaningful professional experience while helping children, youth, and young adults with moderate to severe developmental disabilities access education, opportunities, and inclusive community experiences that help them thrive.
Calgary Quest Children’s Society has two primary streams of service. Calgary Quest School is an independent school providing specialized educational and therapeutic supports for students ages 6–20. Calgary Quest Resources is a multi-faceted component offering Before and After Care and Quest Adventure Camps for our younger participants, and the Centre for Opportunity adult transition program for ages 18-28.
The students and participants we serve face complex developmental, cognitive, communication, sensory, and behavioural challenges that require individualized supports and adaptive learning environments. Yet every day, we witness remarkable growth, resilience, and achievement when individuals are given the right opportunities and encouragement.
Position Overview
This role is ideal for a student interested in:
-communications and marketing,
-fundraising and nonprofit development,
-community engagement,
-research and writing,
-graphic design or digital content creation,
-gaining experience in the charitable sector and an office environment.
You’ll work alongside a supportive team while developing real-world professional skills that make a direct impact in our community.

Key Responsibilities
Fund Development Support (Approx. 70%)
-Conduct prospect and grant research using online tools and funding databases
-Identify alignment between funding opportunities and organizational priorities
-Assist with gathering information and supporting proposal development
-Research pricing and supplier information for program and equipment needs
-Support the preparation and visual presentation of funding applications
-Assist with donor and database administration and data entry
Communications & Marketing Support (Approx. 30%)
-Assist with the creation of social media, website, newsletter, and blog content
-Support the development of marketing and promotional materials
-Conduct marketing and community outreach research
-Collaborate on social media strategy and engagement initiatives
-Support student recruitment and admissions marketing efforts
-Assist with organizing community engagement opportunities and events
-Organize and maintain digital marketing assets, files, and photos

Compensation: $20/hour Term: Eight (8) weeks, July–August
This 35 hour per week in-office role will primarily be located at our Barlow Campus.

Calgary Quest School (CQS) is accredited by Alberta Education as a Designated Special Education Independent School. At CQS, we serve students ages 6-19 years with severe disabilities, in a caring, inclusive, safe, respectful, and sustainable educational environment. Our Barlow Campus serves elementary and junior high students, and our Sunalta Campus works with senior high students. Our team of teachers, therapists, and instructional assistants works together to deliver the best outcomes for our students in their social, emotional, and educational journey.
