Position Summary
Ambrose University invites qualified applicants to submit teaching resumes for a sessional Philosophy instructor position at Ambrose University. Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Chair of the Ambrose Humanities department, the successful applicant would be called upon to deliver the PH 125 Introduction to Philosophy course in the Winter 2027 semester.

Course
Introduction to Philosophy – Winter 2027
An introduction to philosophy through discussion of topics such as the criteria and limits of human knowledge, the mind/body problem, free will and determinism, the existence and nature of God, and ethics.

Duties of Instructors will include: preparing course syllabi, preparation and teaching of weekly classes, grading of assignments, and evaluating student progress and assigning grades, all in keeping with Ambrose academic policies.

This position is a contract appointment for a specified term (usually per semester or academic year) with no presumption of continuing employment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Master’s degree in Philosophy or related discipline; extensive professional experience may also be considered
  • Demonstrated successful undergraduate philosophy teaching, with a commitment to high-quality, student-centered teaching
  • Demonstrated experience as a team player and colleague in a humanities faculty
  • Preference will be given to candidates with ability to integrate Christian perspectives into teaching and learning
  • Reside locally in the Calgary, AB region
