Position Summary
Ambrose University invites qualified applicants to submit teaching resumes for a sessional Dance Instructor position at Ambrose University. Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Chair of Ambrose Arts and other Arts faculty, the successful applicant will be called upon to deliver the DA 103 Dance Fundamentals course in the Fall 2026 semester.
Dance Fundamentals, Fall 2026
A praxis and lecture-based introductory dance class open to all students. This course will explore classical, contemporary, and jazz dance techniques. Training includes barre work, centre practice, across-the-floor, and improvisation. Students will also be introduced to basic skeletal and muscle anatomy and health. Classroom work will focus on a holistic understanding of dance genres and dance history. Studio work will emphasize rhythm, theme, and musical interpretation as applied to improvisation and choreography.
Duties of the instructor will include preparing course syllabi, preparing and teaching weekly classes, evaluating student progress, and assigning grades.
This position is a contract appointment for a specified term, usually per semester or academic year, with no presumption of continuing employment.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Master’s degree in a relevant field; extensive professional experience may also be considered
Demonstrated success in undergraduate dance teaching, with a commitment to high-quality, student-centered teaching
Demonstrated experience as a team player and colleague in an arts faculty
Proven skills in dance, including live performance, choreography, or related practice
Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to integrate Christian perspectives into teaching and learning
Reside locally in the Calgary, Alberta region

Preference will be given to candidates who can thoughtfully integrate Christian perspectives into teaching and learning

Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
