POSITION SUMMARY

Ambrose University invites qualified applicants to submit teaching resumes for a sessional Computer Science instructor position at Ambrose University. Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Chair of Ambrose science department and other science faculty, the successful applicant would be called upon to deliver the CS 115 Introduction to Computers and Programming course in the Winter 2027 semester.

Introduction to Computers and Programming – Winter 2027

An introduction to basic computing concepts, including operating systems, productivity and presentation software, internet navigation, and file management, followed by an introduction to machine learning, Large Language Models, and a brief introduction to AI. The course will then explore fundamentals of logic, Boolean operations, basic command prompts and an introduction to programming as students consider how computers can be used as a tool to analyze and solve problems.

Duties of Instructors will include: preparing course syllabi, preparation and teaching of weekly classes and tutorials, and evaluating student progress and assigning grades, all in keeping with Ambrose academic policies.

This position is a contract appointment for a specified term (usually per semester or academic year) with no presumption of continuing employment.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Minimum Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline; extensive professional experience may also be considered
  • Demonstrated successful undergraduate computer science teaching, with a commitment to high-quality, student-centered teaching
  • Demonstrated experience as a team player and colleague in a science faculty
  • Proven skills in computer science and/or computer programming
  • Preference will be given to candidates with ability to integrate Christian perspectives into teaching and learning
  • Reside locally in the Calgary, AB region
