Position Summary
Ambrose University invites qualified applications for the position of Head Coach, Men’s Soccer.

Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation, the Head Coach is responsible for providing leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Men’s Soccer and Futsal programs. The Head Coach will foster a Christ-centred team culture aligned with the mission of Ambrose University and will contribute to a positive, integrated, and high-performance environment within the Lions Athletics department. This role includes competitive excellence, athlete development, program administration, recruiting, and alignment with the mission and values of Ambrose University.

Reporting Relationship
Reports to: Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation

Primary Responsibilities
Culture and Student-Athlete Development
Foster a Christ-centred team culture aligned with the mission of Ambrose University
Promote character development, leadership growth, and holistic athlete formation
Monitor and support the academic progress and well-being of student-athletes
Model the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and sportsmanship

Program Leadership and High Performance
Develop and implement a comprehensive Yearly Training Plan for soccer and futsal aligned with departmental High Performance standards
Oversee all aspects of athlete development including technical, tactical, physical, and mental performance
Integrate Strength and Conditioning, Mental Performance, and Athletic Therapy services into the team’s planning and competition model
Utilize performance analysis tools and video breakdown to enhance individual and team performance
Establish clear team standards and expectations that promote accountability, discipline, and competitive excellence

Recruiting and Athlete Retention
Lead domestic and international recruiting efforts in alignment with ACAC eligibility regulations and institutional policies
Recruit and retain student-athletes committed to academic success and degree completion
Support scholarship recommendations in collaboration with the Director of Athletics
Maintain regular communication with prospective student-athletes and their families

Staff Leadership
Recruit, supervise, and mentor assistant coaches
Provide leadership and professional development opportunities for coaching staff
Ensure alignment of assistant coaches with departmental philosophy and mission

Administration and Operations
Manage team budget in accordance with institutional guidelines
Oversee travel planning, scheduling, and logistical coordination
Maintain accurate program documentation and reporting
Support fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement, and community outreach efforts
Contribute to summer camps, tournaments, and revenue-generating activities
Ensure full compliance with ACAC regulations, institutional policies, and Safe Sport standards
Duties and responsibilities performed within one’s capabilities that do not constitute a major change may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor, either orally or in writing.

Qualifications and Skills
Required
Bachelor’s degree
Certified B License Part 1, or actively working toward certification
Current Safe Sport training certification
Current First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain certification prior to the start date
Demonstrated coaching experience at the post-secondary, club, or high-performance level
Strong recruiting, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required during the competitive season

Preferred
Graduate degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sport Management, or related field
Education in Christian Studies or Theology considered an asset
Master’s degree or progress toward a graduate degree is considered an asset
Experience coaching within ACAC or U SPORTS environments
Experience integrating sport science and performance analytics into coaching practice
Experience working in a Christian post-secondary institution
