Overview

“Love God. Love People. Be Discipled. Disciple Others.”

The Gate Church is seeking a Next Generation Pastor—someone who is not only

called by God to shepherd the next generation but has also prepared faithfully for

that calling. We’re looking for a leader who is spiritually grounded, relationally

gifted, and ready to pioneer ministry with vision and passion.

Character First

“You can train skills, but you can’t train character.”

At The Gate we begin with believing who you are matters more than what you

can do. Our leadership culture flows from this conviction: the integrity of our team

reflects the reverence we have for God. How you see God will reflect in how you

work.

In the words of Richard Baxter, The Reformed Pastor (1656):

“Therefore, first take heed unto yourselves so that you will be that which you

persuade your hearers to be, believe that which you persuade them daily to believe,

and have heartily accepted that Christ and Spirit whom you offer unto others.”

This speaks deeply to our vision for authentic spiritual leadership—beginning with

the leader’s own heart before extending to those they disciple.

Our Culture

The Gate Church staff are passionate followers of Jesus who view ministry not as a

job, but a calling. We strive to live out Colossians 3:23:

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord

rather than for people.”2

Our work is an act of worship. We aim to honour God with excellence, humility,

and joy in everything we do.

Spiritual Disciplines and Attitude

As Paul exhorted the Philippians:

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…” (Philippians 2:5)

A Christ-centred attitude is foundational for anyone serving in leadership.

We expect our team to walk closely with the Lord through daily time in the Word

and prayer. As John Maxwell once said, “The sum of all your thoughts comprises

your overall attitude.”

About the Role

This role requires a ministry builder—not just a manager. Our previous Next

Generation Pastor passed away unexpectedly. While our team has worked to

sustain momentum, we recognize that this next season will require someone who is

entrepreneurial, visionary, and willing to rebuild from the ground up.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

• Has a clear sense of calling to minister to youth and young adults,

demonstrated through spiritual maturity and life preparation.

• Aligns with The Gate’s Mission, Vision, and Values (thegatechurch.ca).

• Has 3–5 years of experience in a local church or relevant ministry context.

• Is skilled in communication, especially with youth and young adults on

social media and digital platforms.

• Agrees with the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Canada’s

Statement of Faith (cmacan.org).3

• Is credentialed or pursuing credentialing/ordination with The Alliance

Canada.

• Has passed a criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening.

• Is a Canadian citizen or legally able to work in Canada.

Please submit the following:

1. Resume – including your education and relevant experience.

2. Your Story – a one-page testimony of your journey with Jesus.

3. Philosophy of Ministry – a one- to two-page summary of your approach to
