About The Doorway
The Doorway is a registered charitable organization that has been walking alongside young people
(17 through 30 years of age) who are choosing to leave street culture for a better quality of life for the
past 35 years. It offers young people a two-year self-directed goal-setting program (MyPlan) that
helps them set their own goals and action plans in 13 life areas (ex. housing, health, mental health/
addictions, financial, legal, identification, personal, etc.). Currently we have 70 young people subscribing
to the program and our goal is to have 100 participants by the end of May 2025. The Doorway
will also be introducing an alumni peer leadership program for graduates of the MyPlan process
to develop skills that would enable them to support other young people in the homelessness sector
and/or to engage in the strategic planning and policy development in the youth sector.
