Overview

The youth pastor will report to the English Lead Pastor, will be part of the greater pastoral staff team and will endeavor to work with Cantonese and Mandarin lead pastors to facilitate cross-congregational fellowship and cooperation among all youth. The Youth Pastor shall mainly focus on developing, overseeing and equipping individuals to implement and expand the Youth Ministry and Christian Education of youth at SCCEFC.

There will be a close connection with the Children’s Ministry Director to facilitate the transition of youth from Children’s Ministry into Youth Ministry with an intentional and unified ministry strategy from early childhood to young adults. The Youth Pastor will also develop strategies for transitioning youth into adult ministry.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*A graduate from a recognized Bible college or seminary with an emphasis on youth ministry.
*At least two years of experience working with youth (preferably in an intercultural church
setting).
*Committed to discipleship/mentoring ministry.
*Demonstrates ability to be relevant and communicate well with youth and parents.
*Works well in team ministry (team player).
*Evidence of a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
*Have a calling to work with youth and knowledgeable regarding Chinese ministry in Canada
*Biblical qualification and standards (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; Acts 20:28 and 1 Peter 5:1-4).
*Familiar with Plan to Protect policies and procedures.
*Agrees with SCCEFC’s statement of faith and willingness to abide by the church’s bylaws and
constitution.

South Calgary Chinese Evangelical Free Church (SCCEFC) is a thriving, family-oriented, missions-focused church in Calgary, Alberta. Since 1988, SCCEFC has grown and now serves three congregations (Cantonese, English, and Mandarin) with a total weekly attendance of more than 900.

Currently our youth ministry consists of youth from grades 7 to 12 (Glory Fellowship – Junior High and Shine Fellowship – High School). We are seeking the Lord to provide a Youth Pastor who can expand our current ministry and address the spiritual needs of our youth, their families and those who serve as leaders.
