Responsible to: Head Cabin Leader
Position Type: Paid Seasonal Position – some fundraising required for wage
Start Date: June 19th, 2026
Must attend cabin leader training
Qualifications & Skills:
- Must be a born again Christian in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, modeling Jesus’ example in all aspects of work and life, both on the job site and in your personal life.
- Possess a solid understanding of the Gospel and basic Christian theology.
- Experience working with children.
- Preferred Education: First Aid
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure that each individual has a well–balanced camping experience emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually and socially, building relationships with those under your care.
- Ensure your campers are receiving adequate rest, food and individual care, and that they remain healthy and safe.
- Provide opportunities for campers to develop in their relationship with God, pray for and with them.
- Personally prepare yourself emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually and socially for camp.
- You will be looking after a group of children, sleeping in the same cabin with them, sitting at meals with them and overseeing their care throughout the day.
Specific Responsibilities:
Camp Training
- Prepare teacher lesson plans from the Discovery material provided.
- Read the materials and complete all required projects received from the Camp.
- Participate in skill training, learning how to run activities as well as how to interact with different types of groups.
- Participate as a team player, showing respect and care to other members.
- Become fully acquainted with facilities, grounds and emergency procedures.
During Camp
- Your primary responsibility is the well-being of your campers. You will support and care for each camper individually, as well as foster a positive and cohesive cabin environment.
- Support your campers through normal camper concerns such as homesickness.
- Provide leadership and expertise to your cabin group while being patient, loving and kind.
- Teach skills, lead activities and supervise as assigned by the Program Director.
- Lead daily cabin Bible Studies and devotions, participate in chapel services and attend and contribute to all staff meetings.
- Participate in the whole program with a positive attitude and a desire to learn.
- Use your personal time to care for yourself so that you are more prepared to care for kids.
- Assist in accomplishing other tasks as directed by the Site or Program Director
After Summer / Camp
- Complete and submit all required evaluations and reports related to your cabin group
- Assist in the summer–end clean up of the property.

Camp Sagitawa is owned and operated by Sagitawa Christian Camping Society, a non-profit society and registered charity. The Society elects a Board of Directors each year. Our Board and staff work towards integrity, excellence and safety in all our camping programs. We operate a camping program which are open to the community at large.
