Municipal Internship Program -Paid-Finance Officer Stream
Overview: Join us for an 18-month paid internship designed for new or recent graduates eager to explore municipal government within small and medium-sized municipalities in Alberta.

Who We’re Looking For: Successful candidates in the Finance Officer stream are proactive problem solvers with strong communication skills, poised to make a positive impact in finance and accounting roles. This internship offers the opportunity to explore every facet of municipal operations, fostering a deep understanding of how local governments function and how they serve their communities.

Who Can Apply:

·         Graduates with a finance or accounting program with either a major in accounting or finance, or a business-related program with a minor in accounting or finance (60 or more credits) completed between January 1, 2024, and April 30, 2026.

Legally eligible to work in Canada.
·         Must relocate or commute to the host municipality.

 

What You’ll Do:

Learn key aspects of the finance department, including budget forecasting and participating in discussions with council and management.
Prepare payroll, financial records for audit and for borrowing.
·         Experience other areas of the municipality, while gaining insights into financial priorities.

Anticipated Salary Range: ~$60,000-63,000/year
