Position Description
Lethbridge First Baptist Church is a diverse community of Christ followers seeking
to serve like Jesus in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. We are searching for a Lead
Pastor to serve, minister to, and lead our community. Established in 1901, we have
a long-standing relationship in the community. We are a part of the Canadian
Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC) and a vibrant church with a community of
many ages, nationalities, economic backgrounds, and stages of life. This position
reports to the Personnel Committee of the Council.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in theology, Master’s degree (preferred), pursuing further
theological training, and/or life experience that brings a rich
biblical understanding of worship and leading Christ-followers.
• Must be a believer and follower of Jesus, and demonstrate integrity, grace,
and commitment to the First Baptist community (including active
membership).
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, management, organizational, and
problem-solving skills required.
• Be willing and able to preach as part of a team of three others who would
also preach regularly.
• Must be able to demonstrate previous experience in building effective teams.
• Must understand and be aligned to the core ethos and values of Lethbridge
First Baptist and the CBWC.
• Must affirm the Confession of Faith of the CBWC.
• Must be capable of being credentialled with the CBWC.
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage and coach staff in a multistaff
church or similar experience.
• Committed to continued learning, teaching, meditating, and living in light of
the Scriptures.
• Must be capable and have prior experience in shepherding a community of
faith and be able to build healthy teams of people who can care for one
another.
• Committed to regular coaching/mentoring with an established outside
resource to ensure both accountability as well as self-care.
• Must be aware of current digital tools and be willing to learn/use the best
tools for communication and research.
• Able to guide a congregation through a thoughtful process related to the
number and nature of current worship services.
• Able to relate to people of various generations, economic situations, and
ethnicities.
• A current satisfactory Vulnerable Persons Police Record Check.
