Kids Summer Intern

The mission of Lakeview Church is to Join God in the Renewal of All Things.  Our postures are:

Role Summary:

This is a full time, 40 hours per week position for 16 weeks to start on May 5th and is contingent on funding from the Canada Summer Jobs program.  The Lakeview Kids Intern will be responsible for supporting the Lakeview Kids Pastor, and our community with creative pastoral vision and resource leadership for our Kids ministry.  This role requires the abilities to facilitate programs, develop leaders and relationally invest in the lives of our kids and their families.

Requirements:

  • Fully aligned with the mission and postures of Lakeview Church
  • Experience working or volunteering in Kids ministry
  • Communication, relational and administrative skills
  • Self motivated with initiative and creativity in undefined situations
  • Working towards a Bible College Degree

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for the Kids Ministry teams
  • Help visualize and create new strategies for connecting families in new ways
  • Speaking and communicating with Lakeview kids and families
  • Curriculum support and  lesson preparation for Preschool and elementary aged kids
  • Assist in providing meaningful and relevant resources for families

Performance Expectations:

  • Complete duties in a responsible and timely manner
  • Maintain a positive relational stance on all fronts
  • Contribute to a positive and effective staff team dynamic
  • Effectively problem solve within the scope of this role
  • Ongoing improvements and innovations within the scope of this role

Learning Opportunities:

  • Personal mentorship and job shadowing with Lakeview staff
  • Developing communication skills
  • Experience working in a church setting
  • Learning the overall design strategy and consistency behind communication across all ministries in the church

We have been active in Saskatoon for over 100 years and are a part of the Free Methodist Church, a worldwide movement with historical ties to the abolishment of slavery, early advocation of women's rights, child labour reform and the establishment of hospitals and schools.

Our church community is wonderfully diverse and passionate. We have people of all ages and stages who come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Our average attendance at our worship services is approximately 500 people. Sunday worship services and Home Church are the central expression of church life at Lakeview.
