Early Childhood Educator

Role Summary:

This is a full time, 40 hours per week position for 8 weeks to start on July 2nd and is contingent on funding from the Canada Summer Jobs program.  The Lakeview Kids Intern will be responsible for supporting the Lakeview Kids Pastor, and our community with creative pastoral vision and resource leadership for our Kids ministry.  This role requires the abilities to facilitate programs, develop leaders and relationally invest in the lives of our kids and their families.

Requirements:

  • Fully aligned with the mission and postures of Lakeview Church
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with kids

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move children and equipment up to 50lbs
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and reaching
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and move swiftly

Responsibilities:

  • Provide and implement age appropriate learning experiences and lesson plans that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Establish a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports children’s learning and well-being
  • Supervise children during all activities, including indoor and outdoor play
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their children’s progress and development

Performance Expectations:

  • Complete duties in a responsible and timely manner
  • Maintain a positive relational stance on all fronts
  • Contribute to a positive and effective staff team dynamic
  • Effectively problem solve within the scope of this role

We have been active in Saskatoon for over 100 years and are a part of the Free Methodist Church, a worldwide movement with historical ties to the abolishment of slavery, early advocation of women's rights, child labour reform and the establishment of hospitals and schools.

Our church community is wonderfully diverse and passionate. We have people of all ages and stages who come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Our average attendance at our worship services is approximately 500 people. Sunday worship services and Home Church are the central expression of church life at Lakeview.
