Wildland firefighters are essential in combating wildfires, and there are a variety of positions to suit different skills and interests:
- Wildfire Crew Roles: Helitack, Unit, and Hoist crews
- Wildfire Support Positions: Data Entry, Patrol Person, Airtanker Base Loader, and more

Pay rates are based on position classification, starting at $24.80 per hour for Maintenance Service Worker roles and up to $32.80 per hour for Natural Resources roles.
Application Timeline:
- Wildfire Crew Member positions are open for applications until November 30, 2025.
- Wildfire Crew Leader positions will remain posted until suitable candidates are found.
- Other seasonal wildfire support roles will be posted starting December 2025 and will also remain open until suitable candidates are found.
- Employment periods typically range from March to October.
What We Offer:
Competitive Compensation: Wage employees receive 11.6% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of paid holidays and vacation leave
- 5.6% of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6% of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
Shift Differential: Opportunities for overtime, evening, and weekend shifts.
Crew positions receive:
- Access to firefighter equipment supplied by the employer and member training at the Hinton Training Centre (HTC).
- Meals and accommodation for the duration of employment, depending on the location.
Premium Pay Allowances:
- Employees residing above the 57th Parallel (e.g., High Level Forest Area) receive a biweekly Northern Allowance of $241.38.
- Employees in the Fort McMurray Forest Area receive a biweekly allowance of $478.17 (pro-rated for part-time employees).
