Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Pastor to lead our congregation with integrity, vision, and commitment to people and God. To lead Falconridge Family Church (FFC) in fulfilling its mission to actively pursue a relationship with God through worship, scripture study, fellowship, and prayer, while reaching diverse communities for Christ. To embody the vision of “One Family, Many Nations, United in Christ,” fostering a multicultural, inclusive community through grace, forgiveness, and transformative encounters with Jesus. To recruit, train, and inspire the congregation for ministry, leveraging the church’s large facility to address Northeast (NE) Calgary’s community needs and drive spiritual, numerical, and community growth (Ephesians 4:11-16).
Job Description
Prayer, Devotional, and Study
Dedicate significant weekly time to personal prayer and devotional life to ensure Spirit-led ministry (1 Corinthians 2:1-5, Acts 6:4).
Lead, support, and promote pre-service prayer, Wednesday prayer groups, and intercessory prayer initiatives focused on NE Calgary’s needs and congregational unity.
Engage in ongoing study of scriptures, books, and resources to stay informed on multicultural ministry, community outreach, and church growth strategies.
Church Ministries
Collaborate with pastoral staff, Eldership, and Board of Deacons to develop and guide ministries that promote prayer, Bible reading, family life, personal discipleship, pastoral care, teaching, and evangelism, aligning with FFC’s core values of love, grace, unity in diversity, and active faith pursuit (Acts 20:28, 1 Peter 5:1-9).
Prioritize youth and young adult ministries (e.g., “The Hub”) to engage NE Calgary’s young demographic, fostering culturally sensitive programs for mentorship and integration.
Develop initiatives to address community needs, such as newcomer support (e.g., ESL classes, job workshops), food insecurity programs (e.g., grocery card initiatives), and youth education, in partnership with organizations.
Preaching
Oversee the preaching ministry, preparing and delivering sermons that reflect FFC’s multicultural vision and inspire spiritual growth. Coordinate preaching schedules with pastoral staff and ensure continuity during absences through guest ministers or trained leaders.
Platform Ministries
Direct the planning and execution of worship services, ensuring formats and themes align with FFC’s mission of unity and outreach. Foster vibrant, inclusive worship experiences that reflect Christ’s image.
Pastoral and Church Staff
Recommend appointments of pastoral and church staff to the Eldership and Board of Deacons, providing supportive supervision through regular meetings.
Foster a collaborative team environment, equipping staff to lead ministries effectively while maintaining focus on vision-casting over day-to-day operations.
Guest Ministries
Engage guest speakers, evangelists, and musicians in consultation with pastoral staff, Eldership, and Deacons to enhance ministry impact, particularly for multicultural outreach and youth engagement.
Missions
Champion home and foreign missions, coordinating support for missionaries and projects in alignment with FFC’s vision, in consultation with relevant church bodies.
Community Outreach and Facility Utilization
Leverage FFC’s 1,000-person capacity facility (155 Falconridge Cres NE) to address NE Calgary’s needs, including:
Developing the facility as a community hub for newcomer orientation, ESL classes, job workshops, and youth programs in partnership with local organizations.
Renting facility spaces (e.g., for schools, cultural events, or food programs) to generate income and support community needs like food insecurity and education.
Enhancing spaces for rentals (e.g., weddings, after-school programs) and the coffee corner for fellowship to boost engagement.
Lead culturally sensitive outreach initiatives (e.g., multilingual events, community festivals) to engage NE Calgary’s diverse population, including Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, and Punjabi immigrants.
Publicity and Promotion
Oversee advertising, promotional materials, and bulletins to raise awareness of FFC’s ministries, ensuring messaging reflects the church’s multicultural and inclusive identity.
Visitation and Counseling
Participate in visitation and counseling as needed, prioritizing relational depth and pastoral care to support congregational unity and retention.
Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms, and Dedications
Perform these ceremonies as needed, ensuring they reflect FFC’s values of grace and community.
Leadership and Governance
Chair the Board of Elders, Board of Deacons, and Annual Congregational Meeting, serving as an ex-officio member of all church committees.
Foster congregational unity through prayer practices (e.g., weekly discernment sessions, monthly fasts) and transparent communication.
