Job Title: Summer Secretary

Based at: Camp Hope

Status: Seasonal 4-month position, May 4th-August 21st, 2026.

Compensation: $15/hr, 40 hour weeks

Job Summary: 

As Summer Secretary, you will support the Year-Round camp staff to ensure the day-to-day administration activities are developed and maintained in order that camp ministries and programs can continue to run as smoothly as possible. Key responsibilities will include overseeing camper registrations and all daily admin for Camp Hope.

Camp Hope is located on 100 acres of forested land 20 minutes west of Calgary along the Elbow River. We offer 5-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-17. Activities include archery, obstacle courses, bike trails, survival guides, wide games, and more!

Job Responsibilities:

Administrative & Office Support

·         Help manage petty cash, purchase orders, invoices, and capital expenditures in coordination with the Program Manager.

·         Maintain accurate records for campers and staff, ensuring data integrity and timely retrieval.

·         Collect, compile, and submit timesheets; assist with sending paperwork to Human Resources.

Communication & Reception

·         Maintain clear communication with Hope Mission departments (HR, Accounting, Camp Program Manager, etc.) and camp staff.

·         Answer phones, manage the front desk, and provide warm, informed, and professional responses to inquiries.

·         Listen empathetically to individuals seeking help and direct them to the appropriate services or personnel.

Camp Registration & Logistics

·         Prepare weekly registration lists, respond to parent inquiries, and manage registration platforms and spreadsheets.

·         Monitor office supplies and coordinate necessary orders to support camp operations.

Qualifications:

Experience:

·         Relevant experience in ministry involving administration, children, youth, and outreach.

·         Understanding of various challenges of those “at risk” and able to handle relevant reports

·         Training or experience in managing business and fiscal affairs.

·         Experience with Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Media)

·         Completion of high school, Business Administration or Ministry Degree/Diploma would be an asset.

·         Previous Camp Secretary experience is an asset

·         Driver’s License is an asset

Other Requirements:

·         Must be able to work the full 4 months (May to August), as well as have a more flexible schedule in the summer months with camp beginning on Sundays.

·         Must have a passion in working with youth and children.

·         Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.

·         Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search

·         A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
