Overview

Calgary Quest School (CQS) is accredited by Alberta Education as a Designated Special Education Private School.  At CQS, we serve students ages 6-19 years with moderate to severe disabilities, in a caring, inclusive, safe, respectful, and sustainable educational environment. Our team of teachers, therapists, and instructional assistants, work together to deliver the best outcomes for our students in their social, emotional, and educational journey.

OVERVIEW

Our teachers report to our Principal, in compliance with CQS policies, Teacher Qualification Standards, and The Education Act.  Our teachers demonstrate the following competencies:

·        Accommodate students with diverse learning needs and abilities.

·        Coordinate Individual Program Plans (IPPs) in collaboration with our multidisciplinary therapy team and classroom instructional assistants.

·        Demonstrate a high degree of professional competence in planning, teaching, and assessing learning.

·        Collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.

·        Be committed to ongoing professional development.

·        Participate as an effective team member in the implementation of the school’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.

·        Promote a safe and caring learning environment for students.

QUALIFICATIONS

·        Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate – Interim or Permanent

·        Bachelor of Education Degree or experience and equivalent recognized by Alberta Education

·        Experience in supporting students with severe disabilities is considered an asset

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Applicants WHO ARE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT must complete and pass a ‘police security clearance’ and a ‘vulnerable sector check’ before employment is confirmed.
