Compassion & Support Pastor

Position Type: Permanent full-time (40 hrs/week)

Location: 17504 98A Ave, Edmonton AB

 

Position Summary

Do you have a heart for caring for people and mobilizing others to serve those in need? The Compassion and Support Pastor shepherds people through seasons of need by fostering a culture of compassion, leading volunteer mobilization, and overseeing benevolence and care ministries. This role develops, equips, and mobilizes people and systems that extend Christ-centered care within Beulah and into the wider community and ensures effective and consistent support across all Beulah campuses.

Role responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers serving in care and compassion ministries across campuses.
  • Help develop ministries that support vulnerable communities (such as low-income support, newcomers, recovery, prison ministry, Indigenous ministries, and special needs).
  • Lead Beulah’s benevolence strategy, supporting individuals and families facing hardship.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations and agencies.
  • Provide pastoral care, including participation in weddings, baptisms, funerals, and pastoral care support.
  • Serve as a visible leadership presence at weekend services and church gatherings.
  • Participate in Pastor-on-Duty rotations and contribute to ministry planning and budgets.

  • Strong relational and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with wisdom.
  • Ability to collaborate in a multi-staff ministry environment and manage ministry initiatives well.
  • Demonstrated project leadership and implementation skills.
  • Minimum two-year diploma from a recognized biblical institution (Theology, Biblical Studies, Missiology, or Christian Ministry), or 5+ years of demonstrated disciple-making leadership with spiritual maturity and theological fluency.

Qualifications

  • Aligned with The Alliance Canada’s statement of faith and Call to Excellence.
  • Eligible for licensing with the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination in Canada.
  • Able to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada before being hired.
